Givat Vomero

Vomero

District / neighborhood: Vomero

The Vomero district is west of Naples and above sea level of Vomero hill is. It is higher than the other neighborhoods in the city. You can get a great view of Naples, the Bay of Naples, and Mount Vesuvius. This is where you can take pictures for your Instagram account.

Even though there are a lot of good places to observe in this district, Givat Vomero is probably the best because of its location. The Holy Elmo Fort is on this hill. This is necessary because fortresses have been built at the highest point in the city so that people can see when enemies are coming and defend themselves from a higher spot.

This castle was built in the 14th century, and its medieval style is hard to miss. When the Spanish ran the business in the 16th century, they decided to add on to the castle, and it was later used for other things as well. Instead of keeping out invaders, it was turned into a prison to protect the people of Naples from its criminals.

There are no longer any prisoners there; instead, there are soldiers. The Italian army used the place because it was in a good spot. The rest of the castle is open to the public and worth seeing, especially if you’ve already made it to the top of the hill.

A religious building was built next to it, as you might expect. The church is in the middle of the monastery of San Martino, which is a baroque building. The art on the walls of the church is reason enough to go inside. Some well-known artists from the area painted on the walls and ceilings.

There is also a museum inside the building. It was there much later than the fortress and the monastery after the monastery had been abandoned. Inside the house is a large collection of works and items that belonged to the House of Bourbon (who were the kings of the area) and the church. This makes the business expenses. What does it show? It starts with paintings and figurines that show the birth of Jesus and goes on to include periscopes, ship models, folk costumes, and other interesting things.

Because this is a hill, you can take a cable car to the top if you don’t want to walk or take a bus. This adds to the experience. If you’ve already climbed Givat Vomoru, don’t miss the chance to walk around the area and see the city’s rooftops from different angles. The area is also known for having a lot of fashion and vintage stores, so if you have room in your suitcase, go shopping!
