Sorrento is a beautiful kit city located in the south of Italy and is one of the most beautiful places in the land of the boot. This is a fantastic destinations for a romantic visit as a couple or even as a family, with plenty of attractions and activities to enjoy alongside culinary experiences and breathtaking views.
When visiting the city, you will find Queen Giovanna’s Baths on the ruins of an ancient Roman villa. This point is a must-stop, combining history, landscape, and lifestyle.
The queen’s baths are known from various movies as the baths of kings, which sweaty kings appear holding a glass of wine in a bright shade. Like her predecessors, Queen Giovanna (who was initially born in Rome and later became Queen of Bulgaria by marriage). The baths named after her because of her excellent taste, attractive location, and unique appearance.
Very little of the magnificent villa remained after years had passed. Today the natural pool used for the baths is still active, filled with the pleasant waters of the Mediterranean Sea. You can bathe in it with pleasure.
Spend some extra time for a pleasant walk in the nearby area. The pool location is called “The Head of Sorrento” (Punta del Capo di Sorrento). It is a hill touching the water line from where a breathtaking view can be seen, and at the bottom, beyond a natural arch made of stone, is the pool.
Just before you set off, two things you should consider:
- A walk between rocks is required. Children or those with mobility difficulties may find the route quite tricky. However, there is also another option, which is to arrive by boat departing from the nearby coastal towns.
- there are no organized facilities. Bring walking shoes, food, drink and of course a swimsuit.
