Piazza Castello – Turin

The wonderful Turin is considered a wonderful place to visit in any vehicle, including in a family composition with small children and therefore it is among the most popular cities among tourists visiting Italy and attracts crowds of visitors every year and slowly it is also catching the attention of tourists from the Holy Land. If this is not your first visit to the land of the boot and you have already exhausted the must-see sites of Rome (honor is in its place), then this is the next destination you should get to know. Very nice.

Among the most beautiful places in Turin, you will also find quite a few squares, as expected from a large European city. Turin also has beautiful squares that tell the story of the local history, allowing visitors and the curious to be impressed by the spectacular European architecture and to visit the famous tourist sites nearby. Piazza Castello is no different from its peers but it undoubtedly appears on the list of the main points of interest in the city.

Piazza Castello is actually the most famous square in Turin and is of great historical importance, not only thanks to the structure of the square itself but mainly thanks to the historical buildings that are in its area, where you will find, for example, the Royal Palace, the Royal Theater, the Lady’s Palace and much more. As for the square, it is mainly used as a place of recreation and gathering and is the main artery in the city of Turin.

Historically, the spectacular square began its journey in the 1st century AD, when it had two buildings, four arches, and a fortified wall that proved its strength and resistance during the barbarian invasions. Later, other buildings were added to it, some of which can still be seen today, while in the 20th century it underwent an extensive renovation during which a sidewalk for pedestrians, new flooring, water fountains, and more were added.

In fact, if you have just arrived in Turin then this would be the perfect place to start your tour. First, be fresh – the square is home to some of the best coffee shops in the city, so it is recommended to purchase a hot cup of coffee, look out over the crowd and soak up some atmosphere. After that, you can continue your tour of the square, admiring the statues and fountains and the European architecture.

Finally, you can visit the main tourist centers located in the square, such as those mentioned before, art galleries, or go on a tour of one of the four main roads of Turin that all converge on the old square.
