Most visitors to Italy come to the capital city, the beautiful Rome where there are plenty of cultural sites and of course a culinary experience that is second to none. But the honor of Rome lies in its place (and without a doubt, it deserves a lot of honor) – Italy is much more than the lively and famous city, it has other equally beautiful cities, magical towns, and traditional villages that will help you get to know the real Italy – you should.
Among the most special places, you will find Montecatini, an ancient Italian town, which is known for its extensive industry related to the spa field, an industry that attracts crowds of tourists every year and is the mainstay of the place’s economy, including the opening of many hotels and hostels that accommodate tourists and locals who visit the place in order to enjoy the fun activities in it.
From a historical perspective and according to the sources, it seems that the presence of humans in this area in Italy spans many years – starting from ancient times when itinerant hunters visited the place as part of their hunting trips or tracking animals and then local settlements are documented, especially in areas elevated from the ground where local hills.
From the Middle Ages, a settlement is recorded in the town of Montecatini, which is still familiar to us today, and from this period various spa buildings are described that offered a variety of healing treatments thanks to the saltwater that flowed near and under the town. Among these facilities, there are ancient baths, bathtubs of various types, and more. All of these were built according to the spirit that characterizes that period and was alternately destroyed and rebuilt.
Today the local spa industry makes use of the waters of La Fortuna spring which was discovered in the middle of the 19th century AD and a few decades later a spa complex surrounded by a beautiful garden was built around it. This is the central and most visited complex and in addition to it, there are other complexes that attract a large crowd – Terme La Salute, Terme Tamarizzi, Terme Novi Redi, Vertza Tetuccio, Terme Regina, and much more.
